All Saints’ Episcopal Church
We welcome, serve and love all unconditionally through Jesus Christ THIS WEEK AT ALL SAINTS: From the Rector: In the midst of summer, we begin to look ahead to the fall and the new school year. In less than a month, students will be moving into PC which will begin some new work for us. Our new committee structure brings about some changes. For example, what has been known as the Hospitality committee will now be known as the Pastoral Care committee. Its work will be to reach out to those in our parish who might be in need. Marlene Halbert has graciously agreed to lead this committee. She is currently in the process of developing teams to call on members when they have a need by visiting and dropping off a meal. We already have a wonderful group of members who are always eager to help when they are called upon but all are invited to be a part of this ministry. Marlene is planning fun ways to prepare for receptions and meals and doesn’t want anyone to miss out on the fun! Please call Marlene at 864-683-3434 or 864-906-2344 if you’d like to be part of a team. But new work will begin in all areas. I plan to meet with each committee as we begin. We want your ideas, your hopes and dreams; where you see God moving in our common life and how we might be bolder in proclaiming God’s love in word and deed. Looking ahead, we are scheduling a time for all those who serve on Sunday mornings to come together. On August 23rd at 6:00 pm, we will have a Lay Ministries training event. this will be a time for acolytes, ushers, lectors, intercessors, and chalice bearers to come together. If you are interested in joining one of these ministries, you are also invited to attend. Also, PC Sunday is scheduled for September 17th. Rachel Parsons- Wells, Director of Religious Life & Services will be our guest preacher. We look forward to having Rachel join us for this important day. I have also met with Paul Abernathy from The Church of the Nativity in Laurens. We have planned Wednesday evenings beginning November 29th through the season of Advent. We will alternate locations and preachers each week with Evening Prayer at 6:00 pm followed by a covered dish supper. I look forward, with much anticipation, as we move into this new school year.
