Dr. Bob Staton will be the guest speaker/preacher, and a festive Pot-Luck Luncheon will follow. Please bring your favorite entrée, veggie, salad, bread, or dessert to share! SEARCH COMMITTEE MEMBERS are Janet Roberts (Chair), Forrest Adair, Marlene Halbert, Cindy Perry, Charles Rains, Oliver Roosevelt, Le Ann Watson, and Neal Prater (Vestry Liaison). Please keep them in your prayers! WE WILL SAY A SPECIAL PRAYER FOR DISCERNMENT during the Prayers of the People in the Sunday service. We will pray for God to show us what he wants us to do and be in the Clinton/Laurens County community. Please pray for discernment in your daily prayers as well. SINGING ROOSTER FAIR-TRADE COFFEE FROM HAITI is available through the church as a way of supporting our diocesan mission in Cange. An order sheet is placed in the church and in the parish hall. Buy some for yourself—and some to give as Christmas gifts! All proceeds go to the farmers who grow the coffee in Haiti. GLUTEN-FREE COMMUNION WAFERS are always available upon request. Let Fr. Morgan know before the service or at the communion rail. A PERSONAL NOTE FROM HAROLD AND ELIZABETH MORGAN: We have a buyer for our house in Clinton and are buying a house in Bostic, NC, in Rutherford County. Both closings will be on September 20. In the meantime, we are packing everything for the move. We will also maintain a residence and mailing address at the rectory next to Saint Luke’s in Newberry, and I will commute to Clinton until my retirement on December 31. Our phone numbers will remain the same. Bostic is located in a scenic area called Golden Valley that is approximately equidistant from Greenville, Hendersonville, Brevard, Ashville, and Hickory. It’s very close to Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, Rutherfordton, and Shelby. Our new house is a modern log cabin home built in 2007, in a gated community of similar log homes called South Mountain Peaks. This is an appropriate moniker, as our house is nestled among the ridges of the South Mountain range. I will continue to keep office hours (as I am able), take care of administrative tasks, lead worship, and provide pastoral oversight. While I am glad to be moving toward retirement, it will be difficult to leave our home and neighbors in Clinton—and all of you! It has been a pleasure to live here and an honor to be your rector for the past 10 years. Please keep us in your prayers as we make this move! All Saints’ Episcopal Church: Worshipping in the Anglican Tradition through Christian Faith, Love, and Service Dear Members and Friends of All Saints’ Clinton,
I would like to report on the meeting held Wednesday 8/3/2016 with the Search Committee, the Vestry, and The Rev. d’Rue Hazel (our Transition Officer from The Diocese). The Transition Process of calling a new Rector was reviewed by d’Rue. As announced in last Sunday’s Newsbytes, members of the Search Committee are Forrest Adair, Marlene Halbert, Cindy Perry, Charles Rains, Janet Roberts, Oliver Roosevelt III, and Le Ann Watson. Janet Roberts will serve as Chair of the Search Committee and Neal Prater will be the Vestry Liaison. Please thank these persons for their important service. We are blessed at All Saints. Father Morgan has given us almost a year to prepare for his retirement in December 2016. We are very fortunate to have his steady and calm leadership, excellent preaching, and pastoral care as we actively enter the Transition Process. We all know that communication is essential during this period of transition. We want to keep you informed of the steps of the process. Updates and information will be available: (1) at Announcements on Sundays. (2) electronically in the weekly Newsbytes. Please note that a paper copy of the Newsbytes will be sent by mail for those not on email. (3) on our website. The website is being updated so this is not yet available. In keeping with Diocesan requirements for confidentiality, we ask that you not ask members of the Search Committee or Vestry specific questions about the search process and/or potential candidates. They are unable to answer as they must maintain strict confidentiality. If you know of a potential priest who you think would be a good candidate, please ask that person directly to consider applying. They will know how to do this! The Vestry and Search Committee ask that you pray for All Saints’ Clinton. A prayer that we have been including in the service is: Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a rector for this parish, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. From The Book of Common Prayer, page 818 Thank you. Sincerely, Dot Wilson, Sr. Warden |
