We welcome, serve and love all unconditionally through Jesus Christ THIS WEEK AT ALL SAINTS: From the Rector: Our Annual Parish meeting was held yesterday. Thank you to Jamie Adair, Julie Keadle and Neal Prater for the “amplified coffee hour”. I also want to thank Rita Stewart for being our secretary. We elected new vestry members and thanked our outgoing members, Howard Pierce, Neal Prater and Lila McKean for their service. Newly elected vestry members are Forrest Adair, Jan Melara and Stephanie Sullivan. Also elected were delegates to diocesan convention. They are Jamie Adair, Alicia Davis, Jenks Howe and Dot Wilson with Jane Crawford and Jane Parris as alternates. Also coming up in our parish life is the All Saints’ Oyster Roast! We are renewing this tradition this year on Saturday, February 23rd beginning at 4:00 pm. Tickets are 35$ each for adults. All are welcome and encouraged to bring friends. The Oyster Roast is also being advertised in the community and tickets can also be purchased at Tapestry, Bishop Tires, and Adair Apothecary in Laurens. A sign-up sheet is available to help in any way as many hands are needed to make this event a great success. I continue to pray for each of you. May God bless our work, and may we do his will as we seek to proclaim God’s unconditional love. All Saints’ Episcopal Church We welcome, serve and love all unconditionally through Jesus Christ THIS WEEK AT ALL SAINTS: From the Rector: Christian Formation classes have begun on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am. We are studying the scripture passages from our lectionary for that Sunday. It’s a great group so please join us! Our first Film & Theology was last night and great thanks to Dean Thompson for presenting and leading the discussion of “Places in the Heart”. Our next date and film to watch is still to be determined. Rev. Rachel Parsons-Wells has invited our congregation to join PC for their annual MLK Day Convocation on Monday, January 21st at 5:00 pm in Edmunds Hall. The Rev. Dr. Leslie D. Callahan, past of the historic St. Paul’s Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA will be the keynote speaker. Our Annual Parish meeting is this Sunday, January 27th directly following the 10:30 service. We’ll have an “amplified” coffee hour that day as well. New vestry members will be elected, and we’ll honor those finishing their terms. Please make every effort to attend on this important day. Also, our Garden project is coming along. Because of increased rain this last month, we have been delayed bringing in extra soil to help with the plantings. We have received our St. Francis statue and are looking at different benches that will work well in that space. A photo of the St. Francis statue is pictured below. Lastly, for those of you who haven’t yet met him, I want to welcome and introduce our parish intern, Mitchell Felton. Mitchell will be with us on Sunday mornings and several hours each week for six months. He and I will look at his gifts and where best he might help with the mission of All Saints’ and the ministry we share. I hope you will get to know him and welcome him in our midst. Here is some information from Mitchell: Hello All Saints! My name is Mitchell Felton and I am from Greenwood, South Carolina. I am a senior at Lander University where my major is Sociology and my minor is religion. The last several years I have spent time in youth ministry as a Young life leader and as the Youth Director at The Church of the Resurrection Episcopal. In my leisure time I enjoy reading, eating, going to concerts, and being with friends. Last fall I officially started the Discernment Program for Holy Orders and I am looking forward to worshiping alongside you as the spirit guides us into a new season. With peace, Mitchell Felton I continue to pray for each of you. May God bless our work, and may we do his will as we seek to proclaim God’s unconditional love.
