All Saints’ Episcopal Church
We welcome, serve and love all unconditionally through Jesus Christ THIS WEEK AT ALL SAINTS: From the Rector: This past Sunday we had our annual Parish Meeting after the 10:30 service. Thank you to all who attended. It was a wonderful time spent looking at what we’ve done this past year and our plans for the future. Three new vestry members were elected. Thank you to Kay Addison, Harry Sullivan and Jane Parris for agreeing to serve. I’d also like to thank again Julie Keadle, Sharon Sullivan and Harriett McKee for their service these last three years. We also elected Lisa Wicks, Dot Wilson, Forrest Adair, and Julie Keadle as our 2018 diocesan delegates to convention with Jamie Adair, Jane Parris, Cindy Perry and LeAnn Watson serving as alternates. The vestry has also asked Morris Galloway to serve as our treasurer and we give great thanks to Clark McKee for his dedication these last three years as All Saints’ treasurer. We are also looking forward to having a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on February 13th at 6:00 pm in the parish hall. We are anticipating a large group and therefore requesting many hands to help. We are in need of 5 griddles to use at the church and volunteers to cook bacon and sausage ahead of time. We also need volunteers for set-up, pancake cooks, and clean-up. If you’d like to help please call the church office or email Neal Prater at [email protected] Also, just a reminder that this year our bishop’s visit to All Saints will be on Palm Sunday, March 25th. Our formation class, “The Episcopal Church…..what is it?” will be both an opportunity for us to learn about our denomination as well as prepare anyone who would like to be baptized, confirmed or reaffirm baptismal vows. Please let me know if you are interested any of these opportunities. Lastly, a reminder we are now offering nursery during the 10:30 am service for anyone who’d like to use it. Although children are always welcome in church, this gives families an option. Let me know if you’d like to volunteer for this ministry. Also if you or someone you know is interested in joining All Saints’ let me know. I have titled the class “the Episcopal Church……What is it?” This class is for all as we learn together about the peculiarities of our denomination. I hope you will come with your questions. I hope you will join us for the Parish Meeting as we elect Vestry and Diocesan delegates. We will meet after church on Sunday, January 28th in the Parish Hall. I do not have nominations for delegates to Diocesan Convention so I will ask for nominations from the floor. Please consider volunteering for this position. Convention is scheduled for November 2-3 at Trinity Cathedral in Columbia this year. We will elect three and can have up to three alternates as well. Our vestry meeting will take place following the Parish Meeting and please remember the vestry will meet in retreat on Saturday, February 3rd from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Lunch will be provided. Lastly, All Saints is starting to offer nursery for Sunday mornings during church again. Isn’t that a wonderful addition?! Please know how much I enjoy children in worship but sometimes parents don’t have as much fun as I do. If you would like to volunteer for this please let me know.
