We welcome, serve and love all unconditionally through Jesus Christ THIS WEEK AT ALL SAINTS: From the Rector: As we begin this New Year, I hope you will continue to keep All Saints’, our mission and ministry in your prayers and hearts. Though small, we are active with many upcoming events. This is a recap of last week’s information. Our Adult Formation class begins this Sunday at 9:30 am. The focus will be on C. S. Lewis’ book “The Screwtape Letters”. There are books available for purchase in the Parish Hall. Please read chapter 1 for this first class. Sunday, January 19th will be our next Film and Theology event. The movie chosen is “This Beautiful Fantastic” starring Jessica Brown Findlay of Downton Abbey. We will begin at 5:00 pm with popcorn and drinks. Supper is provided with discussion after the movie. January 26th is the day of our Annual Parish Meeting and lunch immediately following the 10:30 service. We will elect new vestry members, new delegates to Diocesan Convention, and we will also vote on Bylaw changes. As always it is an important day in our common life. All Saints’ Oyster Roast is scheduled for Friday, February 7th. Last year was wonderful, but it also requires “all hands-on deck” to make this event happen. As we get closer to the date there will be sign-up lists for help needed. Please put this on your calendar and invite your friends. Tuesday, February 25th is our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. This Mardi Gras celebration occurs to usher in Ash Wednesday and the season of Lent. All Saints’ continues to be blessed. We are blessed with gifts of time, talent and treasure. Please add these events to your calendar and plan to participate. They are also wonderful opportunities for evangelism so invite someone to join you as we continue to seek to live out God’s will in our common life. May God continue to bless you in this new year. We welcome, serve and love all unconditionally through Jesus Christ THIS WEEK AT ALL SAINTS: From the Rector: A reminder to look for your pledge cards in the mail. They were mailed out last week and if you haven’t received your letter, please let us know by calling the church office or emailing Alicia at [email protected]. I hope you will prayerfully consider your pledge and either mail it back or place in the offering plate by Sunday, Dec. 1st so the vestry can begin to plan for 2020. Also, please remember the most important part of your stewardship is to be present on Sundays. It is an outward and visible sign of God’s grace working in and through you. This past Sunday evening we enjoyed a wonderful experience with almost 20 PC students along with members of All Saints’ gathered for Film & Theology. It was a great movie with excellent conversation as we enjoyed supper together. Thank you to all who came and participated and to Dean Thompson for this wonderful evening. Please keep in your prayers our upcoming Diocesan Convention on November 8th and 9th. Your delegates and I will be with churches throughout the diocese. It’s an important time and a reminder of how we are connected to the larger church. This Sunday we begin our Inquirer’s class at 9:30 am in the Christian formation room. We will begin with the Baptismal Covenant. Lastly, a flyer is attached with information about Good Shepherd Free Medical Clinic’s 25th Anniversary and Celebration fundraiser which will be on Friday, Nov. 15th. We welcome, serve and love all unconditionally through Jesus Christ THIS WEEK AT ALL SAINTS: From the Rector: What a glorious celebration we had yesterday! We began with Christian Formation taught by Peter Hobbie, a retired professor of religion from Presbyterian College. PC Sunday continued with their Chaplains as guest preachers and many of our own parishioners participating in the service in some way. A lovely reception was held in thanksgiving for this special relationship. Later in the day we continued by celebrating St. Francis of Assisi with the blessing of animals. Dogs, cats, bunnies and goats were out in full force and it was a joyful time for all. Many thanks to all who helped with both of these events, especially Julie Keadle, Jane Parris, Sharon Sullivan, Lila & Clark McKean, Howard Pierce, Laura Haupfear, Alicia Davis, John & Maryanne Laske and Trena Barnes. See more pictures of the day at the end of the Newsbytes. We have entered a busy time in our common life. I hope you will make it a priority to be here each week as we proclaim God’s love and welcome those who might not have a place to worship. May God continue to bless and keep us.
