All Saints’ Episcopal Church
We welcome, serve and love all unconditionally
through Jesus Christ

THIS WEEK AT ALL SAINTS:

From the Rector:

This Saturday, February 23rd is the Oyster Roast!  Tickets are 35$ each for adults.  All are welcome and encouraged to bring friends.   We have sold quite a few tickets, but it is still possible to call (864-833-1388) or email (rector@allsaintsclinton.org)  if you want more.  They can be reserved and paid for at the door.  A sign-up sheet is available to help in any way as many hands are needed to make this event a great success.

This Sunday we continue with our Adult Formation class at 9:30 am.  We are reading Glorious Companions:  Five Centuries of Anglican Spirituality by Richard Schmidt.  This week we are led by Neal Prater discussing the chapter on George Herbert.   Please join us!

Coming in early March, with the help of Mitchell Felton, we will be offering a class entitled “Be the Bridge – The Bridge to Racial Unity”.  To jumpstart this program, the first endeavor will be a group discussion class of no more than 8-10 people that will focus on foundational principles that every white bridge builder needs to understand.  This helps white individuals understand that the very work of racial reconciliation within our church begins with quiet self-reflection and learning.  If you are interested in participating in this group discussion, please let Alicia know.  You may email her at apdavis1285@gmail.com  or call her at 803-360-5247.  The group is looking at meeting once a month beginning on Sunday, March 3rd from 5pm – 7pm at the church.  2 slots left!  Don’t miss out!

I will be away next Mon-Wed at Camp Gravatt with the Bishop and other clergy for Pre-Lenten retreat.  I will be available if any pastoral emergencies arise.  I continue to pray for each of you.  May God bless our work, and may we do his will as we seek to proclaim God’s unconditional love.

Our Annual Parish meeting is this Sunday, January 27th directly following the 10:30 service.  We’ll have an “amplified” coffee hour that day as well.   New vestry members will be elected, and we’ll honor those finishing their terms.  I also want to thank all who have turned in their pledge cards this year.  This helps the vestry better prepare for the coming year as will be discussed in the meeting Sunday.  Please make every effort to attend on this important day.

Also, giving statements for the year 2018 are available.  They will be in the back of the church for you to pick up.

Christian Formation classes have begun on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am.  We are studying the scripture passages from our lectionary for that Sunday.  It’s a great group so please join us!    Our first Film & Theology was last night and great thanks to Dean Thompson for presenting and leading the discussion of “Places in the Heart”.  Our next date and film to watch is still to be determined.

Rev. Rachel Parsons-Wells has invited our congregation to join PC for their annual MLK Day Convocation on Monday, January 21st at 5:00 pm in Edmunds Hall.  The Rev. Dr. Leslie D. Callahan, past of the historic St. Paul’s Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA will be the keynote speaker.

Our Annual Parish meeting is this Sunday, January 27th directly following the 10:30 service.  We’ll have an “amplified” coffee hour that day as well.   New vestry members will be elected, and we’ll honor those finishing their terms.  Please make every effort to attend on this important day.

Also, our Garden project is coming along.  Because of increased rain this last month, we have been delayed bringing in extra soil to help with the plantings.  We have received our St. Francis statue and are looking at different benches that will work well in that space.  A photo of the St. Francis statue is pictured below.

Lastly, for those of you who haven’t yet met him, I want to welcome and introduce our parish intern, Mitchell Felton.  Mitchell will be with us on Sunday mornings and several hours each week for six months.  He and I will look at his gifts and where best he might help with the mission of All Saints’ and the ministry we share.  I hope you will get to know him and welcome him in our midst.  Here is some information from Mitchell:

Hello All Saints!
My name is Mitchell Felton and I am from Greenwood, South Carolina. I am a senior at Lander University where my major is Sociology and my minor is religion. The last several years I have spent time in youth ministry as a Young life leader and as the Youth Director at The Church of the Resurrection Episcopal. In my leisure time I enjoy reading, eating, going to concerts, and being with friends. Last fall I officially started the Discernment Program for Holy Orders and I am looking forward to worshiping alongside you as the spirit guides us into a new season.
With peace,
Mitchell Felton

I continue to pray for each of you.  May God bless our work, and may we do his will as we seek to proclaim God’s unconditional love.

Merry Christmas!  We are in the midst of this wonderful season and I can’t stop thinking about our beautiful Christmas Eve service last week.  Many thanks to all those who served, especially our choir and wonderful musicians, Carol Roosevelt and Patrick Kiley.   A lovely champagne reception was held afterwards (thanks Alicia), which I think is on track to becoming a tradition.

The new year is upon us and we have a lot planned.  Christian Formation classes begin on Jan. 13th at 9:30 am as well as our first  Film & Theology series that evening at 5:00 pm.  As always, we will provide popcorn and drinks, and then share a pot luck supper after during our discussion.  We will end the month with our Annual Parish meeting set for Sunday, January 27th directly following the 10:30 service.  New vestry members will be named, and we’ll honor those finishing their terms.  Please make every effort to attend on this important day.

All Saints’ Episcopal Church
We welcome, serve and love all unconditionally
through Jesus Christ

THIS WEEK AT ALL SAINTS:

From the Rector:

Our annual Christmas Dinner was held last evening.  It was a wonderful time of good food and fellowship with our church family.  I especially want to thank all those who made it so special especially our event organizer, Julie Keadle, with much help from Cindy Pierce and Jan Melara for all the wonderful decorations and set-up.  We also thank Sharon & Harry Sullivan, and Sophia Sullivan for providing and decorating the tree.   The atmosphere was festive, and the food was remarkable.  Many thanks to everyone who brought a dish to share.

This Wednesday, Dec. 19th, we’ll have our final Evening Prayer and Advent supper.   All Saints’ will host with the Rev. Paul Abernathy preaching.   Please make a point to join us in this time of faith and fellowship during this holy season.

I hope each you will be with us for our traditional candlelight Christmas Eve service if you are able.   It’s a special time of extraordinary music and liturgy as we give thanks for the Incarnation.  A champagne reception will be held following the service.

I continue to pray for each of you.  May God bless our work, and may we do his will as we seek to proclaim God’s unconditional love.
