Have you watched the acolytes and chalice bearers, listened to the lectors and prayer intercessors, or looked to an usher and said to yourself, I’d like to do that! Please email me at rector@allsaintsclinton.org if you are the slightest bit interested. We will make sure to find the right ministry for you and provide training. We are also looking for those with the ability to read another language. On the day of Pentecost, the gospel will be read in many languages all at once. “All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.” Acts 2:4. If you are comfortable reading in French, Spanish, German, or even Swahili, please let me know. This is something new for All Saints’ I believe, but I think you will find it meaningful. We plan to show the movie “St. Vincent” with Bill Murray as our next Film & Theology presentation on Pentecost Sunday, May 20th at 5:00 pm. As always, drinks and popcorn will be served as well as dinner after during discussion. Look for more details in the coming weeks. THE FIRST SUNDAY OUTREACH OFFERING is taken up at the close of the service on the first Sunday of each month. The May offering will benefit the Episcopal Relief and Development Fund. UNITED MINISTRIES FOOD BASKETS: Nonperishable food will be received at the church at any time. This food will be presented at the altar on the second Sunday of each month. Please remember to bring nonperishable foods to fill the baskets! SINGING ROOSTER FAIR-TRADE COFFEE FROM HAITI is available through the church as a way of supporting our diocesan mission in Cange. An order sheet is placed in the church and in the parish hall. Buy some for yourself—and some to give as gifts! There are also a few ornaments and wall art still available. All proceeds go to the farmers who grow the coffee in Haiti. GLUTEN-FREE COMMUNION WAFERS are always available upon request. Let the priest know before the service or at the communion rail. We welcome, serve and love all unconditionally through Jesus Christ THIS WEEK AT ALL SAINTS: From the Rector: Here at All Saints’, pastoral care is central to our common life. At its heart is God’s love which we share with one another. We do it well; it’s in our DNA this desire to reach out to those in need. To continue to do this work well, I’d like to centralize our work so that we don’t miss an opportunity to respond. To that end, I ask that we all use my email address rector@allsaintsclinton.org to communicate pastoral needs within the parish. If you know of anyone who is sick, hurt, grieving, or needs a meal please use this address so I can add them to my prayers. It also allows me to follow up with any additional needs. My hope is to facilitate the work we do in pastoral care together so that coordination is done effectively and no one is overlooked or missed. I’m so grateful for the remarkable work the committee does. Christian formation is up and running. Sunday I will lead a class in the Parish Hall on writing icons. We will be examining the techniques used to create icons as done in the 14th and 15th centuries. I hope this will prove to be a fascinating presentation. We welcome, serve and love all unconditionally through Jesus Christ THIS WEEK AT ALL SAINTS: From the Rector: We are ten days into the 50 days of Easter and I am still thinking of our glorious service and baptism. Thank you to all who helped make the day especially wonderful – our choir, altar guild, acolytes, ushers and many “behind the scenes” worker bees. This place is vibrant because of you all. This week begins our spring Christian formation classes. Sam Wilson and Cindy Perry will lead this week and next Sunday I will lead a class in the Parish Hall on writing icons. As always, formation classes begin at 9:30 am. Another Film & Theology presentation is in the works with a time and date to be determined. Please give a warm welcome back to Jim Nichols as our guest preacher and celebrant this Sunday. Alicia and I will be in Charleston where I am officiating a wedding on Saturday evening.
